I would not be honest with you if I were not to share that there are certain sacrifices that are included with living in Rome. There are basics which one could come up with on their own. Then, there are ones that I only think about during this time of the year. Towards the end of May, all around the country, as men are finishing their studies in Theology, they are called to serve in the Order of the Diaconate. Then, a year later, their bishop will call them to the Order of the Priesthood, to serve at the Altar of the Lord. I rejoice with these men and with their families and parishes, and the whole Church. However, I am saddened because we are unable to share in that joy in person. We enjoy being with those who celebrate special occasions as this in their lives. This sadness results in an understanding that although we are not always physically proximate to one another, we are proximate supernaturally through the Eucharist and prayer. This is consoling to me, that our Lord, although He calls some to be away from those that they love, He shows that we are never too far from anyone when we are together in Him. As a close friend ends their emails to me. . . See you in the Mass!

Only more studying to do ![]()
Now that Rome has returned to its usual tourist and pilgrim status, the North American College is kicking into exam mode. We are in our last few days of classes. For many of us, this means that exams are knocking on the door. Like Pope Benedict, we commit ourselves to your prayers:
- That we may have the faith to grasp and understand the mysteries the Lord is teaching us;
- That we may hope in His Word, Jesus Christ, whom we study;
- And that we may grow in Charity to share these truths with those we serve today and in the future.
